Hum Sub Diwali 2023 took place at the Koka Booth Amphitheater in Cary, NC on Saturday, October 14, 2023. The event began humbly in 2001 with several hundred people in attendance, to nearly 10,000 in attendance this year.
Many from the Triangle community participated in the nearly 20 performances throughout the rainy Saturday. Fortunately, the skies cleared for the afternoon / evening sessions. Two huge crowd-pleasing performances were the “Senior Dance” featuring the HSNC Seniors and the “Celebrity Dance” featuring area mayors and town council members (all non-Desi!). The headliner was Abby V and band with opening artist Shradha Ganesh. Abby’s father and Shradha also joined in for a few duets with Abby later in the show. The performance featured many Bollywood classics, along with his original work and a number featuring classical ragas.
The day culminated with Diwali Fireworks lighting up the sky. Hum Sub’s next signature event will be Basant Bahar on March 3, 2024 at the Cary Performing Arts center. More details at humsub.org.
