The sleeper hit film, Slumdog Millionaire, which won the Best Picture Oscar in 2008, is now going to be turned into a Broadway musical. Slumdog Millionaire tells the story of the protagonist that embarks on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity courtesy of the TV quiz show, “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” Famed composer A.R. Rahman won an Oscar for the song “Jai Ho” from the film and will now lead the effort to turn the story and music from the film into a Broadway musical. According to trade reports, Rahman will also write new music for the production. The film, made on a small budget and directed by Danny Boyle, became a huge hit. No word yet on when the production will open on Broadway.
