Subham Supermarket, a new addition to Charlotte’s growing international grocery scene, marked its Grand Opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Charlotte City Council Member Dimple Ajmera. The event highlighted the essential role small businesses play in fueling local economic growth and building strong, connected communities.

Located in Ballantyne, Subham Supermarket caters to the region’s diverse population with Indian groceries, farm-fresh produce, halal meat,  traditional Indian sweets, and ready-to-eat delicacies.

“Small businesses like Subham Supermarket are the heartbeat of our local economy,” said Council Member Ajmera. “They represent more than commerce—they embody culture, opportunity, and a sense of community pride. I’m honored to celebrate this important milestone with them.”

The grand opening welcomed families, community leaders, and well-wishers. Attendees enjoyed free tastings, traditional Indian sweets and snacks, and participated in cultural festivities, including complimentary henna (mehndi) tattoos, which added a festive and colorful flair to the day.

Sudheer Ummalaneni, one of the founding partners of Subham Supermarket, expressed heartfelt appreciation: “We are truly honored by Council Member Ajmera’s presence and support. Her encouragement reaffirms our commitment to creating a space that not only serves everyday needs but also celebrates the rich heritage and vibrant spirit of our community.”
