Charlotte International Arts Festival Launches in the Fall

Blumenthal Performing Arts has announced the launch of a new festival that will celebrate local and international arts across genres, mediums, and cultures for multiple weeks of enjoyment in the heart of Uptown Charlotte from September 16 to October 2, 2022. The inspiring 17-day festival will bring to Charlotte artists and entertainment from around the world, as well as showcase local international cultures and traditions.

The Blumenthal staff is actively working to bring a dynamic collection of artists from countries such as Italy, Australia, Belgium, the U.K., France, Canada, as well as cities across the U.S. Local artists and performers will have a prominent role, particularly those rooted in international cultures.

The annual festivities will infuse Uptown with fun, family-friendly activities, and lively entertainment around every corner. The Queen City will bustle with live performances, conversations with thought leaders, immersive art installations, and an abundance of inspired creations with a focus on the visual and performing arts—all in celebration of creativity, innovation, and community.

“Now is the perfect time to launch a new festival to celebrate creativity, cultural traditions, and community,” said Blumenthal President and CEO, Tom Gabbard. “The arts foster greater understanding and respect for each other.”

Most events will be free and outdoors, and activities will take place in Center City Charlotte so that it’s a pedestrian-friendly experience.
